In a time when pop is often dumbed down to childrens music, Quanah Parker is bringing jazz back to the mainstreem. A Pop-Jazz band based in Oslo, Norway, it’s four members have a multi-cultural background. Viktoria Jensen, (vocals, piano) is a classically trained musician from Belarus. Craig Downey was trained in jazz guitar in his home city of Vancouver, Canada. Sanjin Orucevich is a bass player with a background in Balkan music from his home country of Bosnia. Boris Iochev, originally from Bulgaria, was a professional drummer in the USA, touring internationally with bands for many years before moving to Norway.
Quanah Parker has been together writing songs and gigging in Oslo for year, preparing material for it’s first self-titled EP. It’s jazzy chords, catchy melodies, jungle rhythms and a certain je ne sais quoi attitude, entices listenes and leaves them thirsty for more.
As the band’s ambition to be the worlds biggest multi-cultural, pop-jazz-classical-bluesy, three guys and a girl quartet out of Oslo has already been realised, they move forward to top Norway’s pop charts.
