The Crystal Ball of Style
I just witness the most Jewish and the most personal film in the Coen brothers’ 25-year career, is pitched squarely between the musical magnetic poles of Ukrainian-born vocalist Sidor Belarsky and Haight-Ashbury’s Jefferson Airplane. Five years ago at a retail conference in Chicago, a style oracle from Vashon Island (WA) said something which still reverberates with me today. Instead of crystal ball she always looks into a great movies as a protagonist of the latest color, general style and interior design trends. It goes without saying that motion picture such as “A serious man” is a brilliant example of that. The set design is executed so perfectly well that in my humble opinion that movie should take part of any Interior Design school’s curriculum.
When Jennifer Valone and I were working on developing the interiors of Peppes Pizza’s flagship stores in Oslo and Shanghai we draw our inspiration for the restaurant bathrooms from “Titanic”.
